Video game stores. The first time that I encountered one was in Yik Foong Complex in Ipoh which sold knock off Nintendo consoles such as the Micro Genius and game cartridges that touted a hundred games in one. Fast forward to the third decade of the 21st-century and we see chain-stores in almost every major mall, with some chains taking to build megastores selling everything from video games, consoles, peripherals, accessories, and toys, basically anything under the sun that would put a smile even on a hardened gamer’s face.

So what rocks my boat when it comes to games? Basically a good bargain. I used to bargain hunt for used games back when forums were still a thing. Most of the new games that I bought were mainly from Play-Asia when there’s a sale going on. A friend of mine even got into the used game business, you can check him out in my post: Google Map Guide to Video Game Shops in KL and Klang Valley (Updated for 2023).

On the subject of used games, there’s a new store in town specializing in used electronics and games. Originating from the UK, “Complete Entertainment Exchange“, otherwise known as CeX has its debut store located in IOI City Mall Putrajaya, which has the distinction of being the second largest shopping mall in the world, and is operated locally by Nuovolife Sdn. Bhd.

CeX Malaysia will be boasting an extensive inventory of over 10,000 SKUs. The range includes consumer electronics like phones, tablets, and laptops, as well as video games, hardware, accessories, cameras, audio technology, and niche products such as virtual reality and drone tech, catering to the tech enthusiasts and gamers, with a comprehensive selection of products.

In addition to the that, what sets CeX apart is its commitment to customer satisfaction, ensuring peace of mind with every purchase through an industry-leading 2-year warranty on all products, that’s unheard of in this part of the world. What’s interesting is that the second store is in the works, and is slated to open in August 2023 at MyTown. Nuovolife intends to expand CeX Malaysia’s presence throughout the Klang Valley by 2023 and into other regions of Malaysia by 2026.
