I like it that developers are viewing the iOS platform as viable for triple-A titles. Aside from implementing really cool 3D engines such as the one from Epic, some developers are going to great lengths to bring about a certain quality to their games. One of these developers are the folks from Vivid Games.

These guys have taken to motion capture in order to produce the necessary animation for their upcoming iOS title Real Boxing which is set to launch in Q4 2012. They’ve produced Episode 1 of the Real Boxing Developer Diaries, bringing us behind-the-scenes of a motion capture session.

Filmed at the state-of-the-art Alvernia Studios, which was used for hit games such Witcher 2 and Dead Island, the video shows how Vivid Games captured the movements of professional boxers and transformed them into 3D characters in the game. Pretty cool eh? It just makes me even more excited to see the game later this year.
