Snaked (iPhone) Review – Will It Wrap Around You?
I don’t know why, but the phrase “I had it better” came to mind when I was playing Snaked on the iPhone. Maybe because it moves slowly; according to the developer, it’s an upgrade to the classic Snake you find on the old Nokia phones. Well, come on now, it’s the 21st century and the platform is the iPhone; moving a little faster and smoother wouldn’t kill the hardware…would it?
Maybe it’s the sound effects. I hate the sound the game creates that just doesn’t make sense, like when the snake eats a rat (it doesn’t sound like a squeak, or when the snake hits the wall (it’s a bonk…followed by cheers in the game over screen).
But having written all that, I realized that what the game is really missing is polish. There are options pertaining to the control modes (swipe, tilt or virtual keypad), and level design, but overall, I can’t help but feel that Snaked is an underwhelming effort.
Try better next time, Broken Thumb Apps. If you are still interested in the game, check it out on Apple’s App Store (click here).Powered by Sidelines
