Banana Chocolate Chip Loaf/Cake Recipe

I made two Banana Chocolate Chip Cakes for Chinese New Year and apparently, it’s pretty good. I got the recipe from my mum, who got it from a friend. Since it’s inscribed on paper, putting it up online would be a good way to share it, so here goes:

Banana Chocolate Chip Loaf

Ingredients:

175g wheat flour
150g castor sugar
125g unsalted butter
3 or 4 mashed bananas (ripe ones)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarbonate powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
100g chocolate chips
60g walnuts

Method:

1. Grease 1 baking loaf tin
2. Preheat oven to 180 degrees centigrade
3. Bowl A = Mix flour + baking powder + bicarbonate powder
4. Bowl B = Mix sugar + butter + bananas + eggs + vanilla + salt
5. Mix contents of A+B. Add in crushed walnuts and chocolate chips, mix thoroughly.
6. Pour contents into baking tin and bake for 1 hour

Do give it a try :). And yes, I’m a guy and I know how to operate an oven. Ada problem?

I put red currents from my garden instead of walnuts. The tart red currents really complimented the moist banana loaf. It tasted fantastic.
