The recently concluded The Game Awards 2023 proved to be a pretty polarizing one. On a personal level, I was kind of disappointed that my favourite game, and an indie one at that, Dredge, failed to pick up any honors while being shortlisted in two categories. Some of my friends in the video games industry were disappointed that the awards didn’t really touched on the turmoil that wrecked the industry this year which included layoffs and closure of studios. On the home front, plenty of local fans were disappointed that Spiderman didn’t win in any of the categories it was contesting in. Fret not though, Game of the Year Baldur’s Gate 3 was partially made in Malaysia!

There were plenty of announcements during the show with regard to upcoming games as well, and the ones covered here are all multi-platform, with exception to the Switch.
