The indie gaming space has always been an exciting one to watch, be it on the PC, Xbox, PlayStation and the Nintendo Switch. Here’s a list of games that are either coming out this year, or the next or having their next exciting update. Check them out:

Mr. Sun’s Hatbox

Published by Raw Fury and the brainchild of solo developer Kenny Sun, Mr. Sun’s Hatbox is a slapstick roguelite platformer recently nominated for “Excellence in Design” at this year’s Independent Games Festival.

The game will feature co-op and PvP game modes via local multiplayer and Steam Remote Play Anywhere at launch. Fans will have their first opportunity to experience these modes, as well as even more of the main story campaign, with the new Mr. Sun’s Hatbox demo, coming February 6 as part of Steam Next Fest.

Atomic Heart

While not exactly an indie studio now, the folks behind upcoming action-RPG title Atomic Heart, Mundfish, was started by 4 like-minded gaming enthusiast. They’ve grown to a 130 member team.

The game, which is being launch for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, will feature unforgiving combat and explosive encounters that will have players blasting rogue robots, giant machines and even mutants. Atomic Heart is available for pre-order now, with four editions to pick from.

Mika and the Witch’s Mountain

This is a fantasy adventure about an aspiring witch who delivers packages to the townspeople of a small island. Players can take their magic broom and discover all the secrets hidden in the mountain while getting to know its charming inhabitants. Work hard and get a magic broom good enough to achieve your goal: to go to the top of the mountain.

Developer Chibig released a new trailer for Mika and the Witch’s Mountain to celebrate the launch of its Kickstarter campaign and the game’s demo at Steam Next Fest. The game will be released in 2023 for PC (Steam) and consoles.

Pixel Cup Soccer: Ultimate Edition

Pixel Cup Soccer: Ultimate Edition is a dynamic arcade game with fast-paced gameplay featuring excellent pixel art graphics reminiscent of the classic 90s games; a must-have game in any collection for fans of retro- and footy games in particular.

Indie game developer and publisher BATOVI Games Studio encourages players of all ages and experience levels to download and try out Pixel Cup Soccer: Ultimate Edition which is now available for PC via Steam and on the Nintendo Switch.

Henosis

Indie game developer and publisher Odd Critter Games is proud to announce a major update and patch to HENOSIS, a visually stunning 2D puzzle-platformer with unique controls and a blob on a mission to preserve life by gathering water.

Exclusively available on PC, Mac and Linux via Steam and Itch.io, HENOSIS challenges you to play a viscous glob of water as you follow a trail of droplets and discover your fate in bizarre lands.

Steel Seed

Italian development studio Storm in a Teacup is excited to share a first glimpse at STEEL SEED, its next project following on from 2019’s historic horror adventure, Close to the Sun.

Thousands of years have passed since the human race took the planet to the brink of destruction, causing the AI machines to take all means necessary to save a number of them. Hiding deep below earth’s surface, the last survivors are kept safe, but a new threat has presented itself.

STEEL SEED is a Storm in a Teacup’s take on Stealth/Action gaming coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles in 2024.
