One retro title from the 1980s is about to make its iOS debut. The Boulder Dash series was released for the likes of the Apple II and Commodore 64 and the upcoming iOS version is titled Boulder Dash-XL, published by HeroCraft and First Star Software Inc, the owners of the Boulder Dash IP.

The core gameplay has not been changed, players race against time to collect diamonds while besting hordes of enemies and avoiding numerous traps. The new version of the game will feature five game modes and more than 100 levels. Players can elect to play as either Rockford™ or Crystal™ in four beautiful and different worlds. In addition to the classic Boulder Dash game elements, Boulder Dash-XL includes telescopic arms for remote manipulation of objects; teleporters and numerous new enemies.

Pavel Prokonich, CEO of HeroCraft: “We at HeroCraft remember spending hours in front of our screens trying to escape those falling boulders and having a great time of it! We hope iOS users will enjoy digging into this amazingly fun gameplay just as millions of players before them have for close to 30 years!”

Richard M. Spitalny, president of First Star Software, Inc., owners of the Boulder Dash IP, went on to say: “Catnip Games, GmbH & Co. KG co-developed Boulder Dash-XL with us for Xbox LIVE Arcade and Windows PC and HeroCraft has done a truly fantastic job of porting the game over to all of the popular iOS devices.”

The game will be available on the iTunes App Store for a selling price of USD 2.99. Stay tuned to Nineoverten.com for news and reviews upon its release.
