I remember sometime mid-last year a family friend called up for advise regarding her eldest son’s university options. The kid is a pretty brilliant fellow and wanted to get into video games development. Interesting isn’t it? Back in the day we IT-industry aspirants were limited to just Computer Science or Software Engineering..something that was easily settled with a coin toss.

Nowadays, high-school leavers have plenty of options and while traditional CS and SE courses are still around, courses that specialise in e-commerce, entrepreneurship, internet computing are a dime a dozen. What I do know, both then as a student and now as someone who is in a position whereby I’ve to go through interview candidates, having a degree (well, a decent one) from a reputable institute is pretty important in a crowded marketplace.

The University of London’s International Programmes has made its degree programmes accessible to students from all over the world. Through this initiative, all of UoL’s courses can be completed anywhere in the world through independent study while some courses can be completed by attending classes in a local institution affiliated with UoL.

Described by the Sunday Times as an “intellectual powerhouse with a world class reputation”, the degrees awarded via its International Programmes are of an identical standard to those awarded to students who study face to face at one of the University of London’s Colleges, which practically enhances employability and marketable skills.
