Here’s even more reason to be excited over Halfbrick‘s upcoming action game for both iOS and Android platforms, titled Machine Gun Jetpack. It marks the return of Barry Steakfries, who was last seen in Age of Zombies. In Machine Gun Jetpack, Barry steals a highly explosive, unstable and experimental machine gun-propelled jetpack that he – naturally – straps to his back without hesitation.

Barry bolts for freedom but faces an endless hall booby-trapped with electrical fields, laser blasts and homing rockets that players must navigate around with the simple one-touch controls. Set to be launched in September, Halfbrick has today unveiled the first in a series of developer diary videos breaking down key gameplay, creative inspiration and the development process behind the studio’s highly anticipated mobile game.

In the series’ first video, “Simple Awesomeness,” lead designer Luke Muscat breaks down the simple beauty of the one-touch gameplay, giving fans a look at mechanics, collectibles, and various obstacles players will face in Barry’s high-flying adventure. As the launch of Machine Gun Jetpack approaches, fans can tune in each week to Halfbrick’s YouTube channel for additional developer diaries leading in to Barry Steakfries triumphant return.
