This seems interesting, it’s not everyday you’d find a game that impresses you not on the gameplay but on the implementation of a third party SDK that allows the app to offer up something different from others. Kalimat is a word game for iOS devices and being a person who can appreciate a good word game at anytime, I’m not really sure whether it stands up to the test.

Kalimat plays like Scrabble or Words with Friends. The game is played against other players either online or on a pass-the-device mode. The first issue I have with Kalimat is that while the scoring system remains similar to Scrabble, the word and letter bonuses allow for too much many points to be earned in a single stroke (for example, it’s pretty easy to get double word bonuses TWICE in a single play of letters)

Secondly it’s impossible to arrange the tiles of letters on the rack, making it difficult to form strategies. And last but not least, why is it I’m having such a difficult time getting a game online? With so many issues plaguing the game, the only saving grace would be the curious integration of Appboy+ SDK that allows for players to check-in ala Foursquare.

Nine Over Ten 9/10 rates Kalimat a 3 out of 5. The game does have potential and I would certainly like to see the kinks ironed out.

Kalimat is available on the iTunes App Store for USD 2.99. Check it out over here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kalimat/id416740424?mt=8. A review code was provided by AppsArabia to Nine Over Ten 9/10 for the purpose of this review.
