At least there are no talking gargoyles like the ones Batman was talking to (he was high, or nuts) in Batman RIP. The Scarecrow boss fights in Batman Arkham Asylum are pretty annoying, that guy is supposed to be afraid of Batman not the other way around.  In the game, you face off with a giant Scarecrow (he’s in your head, messing your mind) and you must avoid detection to reach the Bat Signal. But I suppose having the Bat Signal as a means of destroying him (well, at like his mental image) is a nice touch which serves to remind him who’s boss.

One thing I noted about Arkham Asylum was the amount of time I spent in Detective Mode. I even fought entire battles (the combat system totally rocks) in Detective Mode so much so I’m starting to feel like it’s a crutch. What do you think? Despite the two minor niggles mentioned above, I really like Batman Arkham Asylum. It’s the best superhero game I’ve played so far and does more than enough to redeem the entire genre of superhero games (think Superman for the N64) and hopefully this sparks a renaissance age for the genre.
