My one-night stay at the Dorsett Johor hotel was pretty interesting. The hotel came across as a condominium renovated to become a hotel, and while it’s fairly new with some rough spots here and there, it’s still pretty cool.

First up, the Deluxe room I was staying in had this shower thing attached to the bath ceiling. It was like playing in the rain during a shower. The room came with a king-sized bed an a LCD TV hanging on the wall. The study table and bedroom lights, as well as painting above the bed’s headboard landed a certain boutique=hotel like quality to the room

The usual ammenities can be found in the room: ironing board, steam iron, a minibar, some interesting  tea-tree oil based toiletries, kettle jug, and more importantly, free wireless Internet! The restaurant downstairs, Checkers, is a little cramp but serves a pretty decent breakfast buffet.

Located in the middle between Pasir Gudang and Tebrau City at Plentong, and in the company of not one but two hypermarkets (Giant and Tesco), it’s a pretty convenient location if you are looking for a place to stay in Johor Bahru. Check out the website at https://www.dorsettjohorhotel.com/ppc/
