There’s one interesting genre of physics-based games that have made touchscreen-enabled devices like the iPhone and the iPad their home. It’s the type where you’ll need to arrange stuff around, push a button and watch all the action work out on the screen. The problem with this genre is that the basis is so similar and straightforward that even different games feel as if they were re-skinned over the same model.

Zondo Games’ latest title for iOS, Blast The Alien, suffers the same fate. If you are new to the genre, you’ll find the whole Area-51/destroy all alien invaders scenario to be a novel one and as such I would encourage you to download and play the game.  But if you are a seasoned vet of this kind of physics-based games, there’s nothing new here.

On the technical side of things, the game looks pretty good and the gameplay would provide a challenge to newbies. Hitting a moving target is certainly something you don’t see often despite the number of similar games on the iTunes App Store.

Nine Over Ten 9/10 rates Blast The Alien at 3.5 out of 5. The game is available for USD 0.99 on the iTunes App Store, check it out over here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/blast-the-alien/id496375373?mt=8
