It’s not everyday that you get to bump into a game that integrates with Foursquare. I’m actually a frequent of the location-based service as it’s a boon when it comes to keeping track of my day-time job’s travel claims, so I’m pretty curious to see how developer and publisher Magmic would integrate it into Rubik’s Cube 1.0.8.

This updated version of the popular game (which also happens to be the only official Rubik’s Cube game on the App Store) has an important upgrade that allows players the ability to checkin with Foursquare at key points within the game, allowing them to share their location and game progress with their Foursquare friends. These exciting new features add to the fun of this addictive title and paves the way for more location-based social network integration in future releases of this and other top-selling Magmic titles.

“The implementation of Foursquare in Rubik’s Cube is just the beginning of a shift in how people use mobile games,” said Magmic CEO John Criswick, adding, “Magmic is at the forefront of the natural evolution of mobile entertainment into real world interaction. Aligning one of our top selling titles with Foursquare’s 10 million registered users is the next step forward as we continue to define the experience of mobile social gaming.”
