There’s plenty of stuff that I like about the first iOS 5 beta, and the list below just about scratches the surface. First up is the all new Notifications feature which replaces the old fashioned one. Notifications now stay clear from the user, and instead appear at the top of the screen. Slide down from the top of the screen and a whole list of notifications will appear.

There are so many options to configure in the new Settings page, but I feel the most important part is that you can have notifications show up on the lock screen. Tapping the particular notification and unlocking the screen brings you directly to the app (and the notice itself), which is pretty cool.

Next up, Twitter gets baked in real good in iOS 5. The ability to tweet photos, and even what you are browsing to your Twitter followers is a boon. And having to be able to access the camera from the lock screen (and subsequently shoot by pressing the Up volume control), these two features are just begging to be used with each other.

Last but not least, Game Center gets a few timely updates. There’s the public profile thingy (you can take your profile private too), along with the games recommendation feature. Not only that, you can now put up a pretty picture of yourself on your profile.
