The Berenstain Bears Arrive on the Apple iPhone and iPad
Hot on the heels of their success with Dr. Seuss iPhone eBook apps and games, Oceanhouse Media has gotten another feather on its cap as the company is now collaborating with Zondervan to release The Berenstain Bears eBooks for the iPhone and iPad. Check out the press release below for further details:
Oceanhouse Media, Inc. announced the release of three new The Berenstain Bears eBooks for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. These are the first three titles released as a result of the just announced eBook licensing relationship with Zondervan. The timeless children’s favorites The Berenstain Bears Say Their Prayers, The Berenstain Bears Go To Sunday School and The Berenstain Bears And The Golden Rule are now available in the App Store for the special introductory price of only $2.99 each.
The Berenstain Bears eBooks are designed as universal apps that can be used on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch for no additional charge. The books are presented in a format that is easy to read by both children and adults, with the same beautiful illustrations that have been a hallmark of the Berenstain series. These apps also include special high-resolution graphics for the iPhone 4 Retina display.
In The Berenstain Bears Say Their Prayers (https://www.oceanhousemedia.com/products/sayprayers/), Brother Bear contemplates why his family has chosen the daily ritual of saying bedtime prayers. When he sees a friend on his baseball team praying at the game, he decides to try it himself. Things don’t work out as he expects, though, and Brother Bear learns that although prayers are always answered, they aren’t always answered as we expect!
Retailer’s Choice Award Winner, The Berenstain Bears Go To Sunday School (https://www.oceanhousemedia.com/products/sundayschool/) begins when Mama Bear decides it has been too long since the family has gone to church at the Chapel in the Woods. She decides it is time the Bear family get back in the habit of attending services. It isn’t long before they remember what a wonderful place the Chapel in the Woods is and find that going to church as a family is something they look forward to every week.
The Berenstain Bears and the Golden Rule (https://www.oceanhousemedia.com/products/goldenrule/) shows children how choosing to be kind may not always be the easy choice, but it is always the right one. When Sister Bear receives a locket for her birthday with the Golden Rule inscribed on it, she wonders what the verse means. Although Mama Bear explains it, it isn’t until she befriends a lonely newcomer at school that she understands what the rule looks like in action.
All three The Berenstain Bears favorites have been adapted for the first time to an interactive book format for the iPad and iPhone. Each eBook combines beautiful artwork from the original book with innovative features that promote reading in young children, including highlighted picture / word associations, professional narration and custom background audio. High-resolution artwork for the iPad and iPhone 4 is included, in addition to standard artwork for the iPhone and iPod Touch. “We are extremely excited about our licensing partnership with Zondervan for The Berenstain Bears series,” said Michel Kripalani, President of Oceanhouse Media. “We believe that the iPad is a revolutionary device for children’s literature and learning.”
“These engaging eBooks bring the words of The Berenstain Bears to life,” said Annette Bourland, Senior Vice President and Publisher of Zonderkidz, the Children’s Division of Zondervan. “We are pleased to be aligned with a company like Oceanhouse Media who’s corporate mission is to ‘Uplift, Educate and Inspire.” Oceanhouse Media, creators of award-winning Dr. Seuss and Hay House apps, have recently seen six of their Dr. Seuss eBooks reach the #1 rank for paid books in the App Store.
