iPhone/iPad Apps – A Case of Split Identities
While I’ve not downloaded iPad-specific apps, it looks like a growing number of developers are making their apps a 2-in-1 kind of thing whereby if you already have them for the iPhone, chances are they are updated for the iPad as well. This type of update is unlikely to affect the iPhone version of the app, but there definitely will be a difference in file sizes post update.
In my case, the entire Dr Seuss e-book range has been updated to support the iPad at full resolution with the same going for games such as NYTimes Crosswords, DropZap and Air Hockey. Apps like WordPress feature radically different interfaces for the iPad and iPhone but as mentioned earlier you’ll get both in a single package which is pretty cool in my books. and convenient since you do not need to download the app twice if you own both devices.
