First impressions matter, well at least to me, when it comes to games. When I first received word about teh internets, a shmup for the iPhone/iPod Touch, I thought, well, that the game was operating on an interesting premise. If anything, it was the first shmup based on Internet culture.

But then again, first impressions are well, just first impressions. They are nothing more then a opinion formed in your head and more than likely to suffer from a lack of  experience with a particular item, in this case a game.

How different it was when I started playing teh internet. In net-speak, it can be described as a “meh”: A rather lame and boring game that nearly put me to sleep and this was after a game of Fallout 3 with an unarmed character!

Featuring more style than substance, you fly around in an ASCII ROFL-copter, rescuing lolcats while avoiding flying pop-ups, trolls and even computer virii. To top it up, you get the BSOD as the game over screen. Control is relegated to a virtual d-pad on the lower-left corner of the screen, and the only thing you can shoot at are the trolls.

While there’s OpenFeint for online leaderboards and achievements, there’s nothing really to shout about “teh internets”. If you are still interested in what looks to me like a pretty poor arts project, “teh internets – When Memes Attack” is available on Apple’s App Store for USD 1.99. Click here for details.
