Do you like jigsaw puzzles? I know I do. Not only did I just buy a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle yesterday, I’ve been playing two jigsaw-puzzle-like games on the iPhone in order to write reviews for Nine Over Ten 9/10.

The first of the two games is AddictingGame’s 50 States. In this game, you are giving 50 turns to fit the different states of the USA on to a map of the country. Stumped? Shaking the iPhone will replace the current piece with a new state, but at the cost of 1 turn.

It’s pretty fun to see how much errors you made, which are calculated in miles (off-target) at the end of the game. I also had a lot of fun figuring out which state belongs to which part of the map, and yes, I did cheat a little with help of a map of the United States ๐Ÿ˜› (I’m not American anyways).

The game however is not without its kinks. Putting in the 50 states in their rightful places in the map can be a really time consuming affair, and it’s surprising to see that it doesn’t have an auto-save feature somewhere.

Secondly, you got to be really precise in placing the pieces, since the game is pretty anal about placement, allowing only up to a 2 millimeter offset. This makes smaller states a pain to place on the map.

In any case, at 99 cents, 50 States is one cheap and effective learning tool/game to get you to know what and where the American states are, give it a few tries and you too will be an expert. Grab it at the iTunes store for your iPhone/iPod Touch by clicking here.
